One-man Band

Quote from Dave:

"This guy is like 1 part my hero, 1 part my worst nightmare (beginning with the mullet...)"

Beware: McRorie is LOUD. But he sparked the idea for this blog. He's the meaning of [Dave's] life, he's [Dave's] inspiration.

Rate Your Music

I can see Dave (and several of you) spending much too much time on this site:

Layout & Design

Would Dave love this new layout? It's actually far more customizable than I orginally thought. So if it seems confusing or you can't tell what's what... then let me know and I'll try to change it to make it as easy as possible to read and post. --Kristy

Painless Pick swallowing

Okay, here's a novel idea, every kid at one time or another swallows a coin, and with the recent fear of the picks falling into the wrong mouths, why not combine the two?  You guessed it! The Genuine MOJO pick!

Ya gotta see it to believe it!

What's a Genuine MOJO Pick? It's a Real USA Silver Quar-ter that has been shaped into a Guitar Pick! They are based on a Blues Legend about a guy who got both his unique guitar tone and his prowess with the ladies from them....

They have been hand crafted by a luthier and highly polished on the edge for Great TONE! Each one of these Genuine MOJO picks is made from a Pre-1964 quar-ter. Why before 1964? Because that is when the composition of Quar-ters changed from 90% Silver to 95% copper with a nickel skin. Coins from 1965 to the present date appear "Silver" in color, but there is NO Silver in currently circulated coinage and there hasn't been since 1964! That is one of the special things about these MOJO picks. There are several other things, too: The Texture, The Dates and the most important thing, THE TONE!

Another Great Daddy Blog

Dave got an e-mail today that he forwarded to me. After making his blog public accessible, Dave got an e-mail from another Dad who blogs about his life and his kids. It's beautifully written and I think Dave (and many of you) would like it.

Wow! Thanks!

I'm so psyched about this. I will have to invite people, of course, because right now this is a pretty exclusive club. The more the merrier, but the peeps have to know me well enough to understand my tastes. What a strange thing, to have people posit what I will love. Talk about an ego trip!

So first off, I love this blog! Great idea, Kelly! Thanks for making it happen, Kristy!

Okay, to begin...

Dave would love: to be a guitar collector.

I've just been obsessed with it lately, as Kristy can attest to. I'm interested in expensive, rare, vintage, outrageous, and otherwise noteworthy guitars that will appreciate in value over time. I've done a bit of poking around on the interweb, and it seems that my Gibson Les Paul 1960 Classic Reissue from 1992 (what a mouthful!) may be worth anywhere from about $2,500 to $3,000 now. I bought it for $1,300 in '92. I don't know how to adjust for inflation, but it seems like, on the surface, that it's at least doubled in value. Not that I'd ever sell it. My classical is also worth a hell of a lot more now than what I paid for it.

First, I'd love an electric that is a radical departure from what I already own. Unsurprisingly, I'd like it to look very metal. Flying V or X-shaped body or something. Whammy bar. More frets. Then, I'd move on to a 12 string. Then maybe a 7 string. Then some sort of hollow body electric... Then I'd trade in my acoustic and upgrade. Then I'd move into weirdoland and snag some vintage axes.

Baby steps...

Let's start with some Opeth stuff

Okay, let's start off with something easy (really an impusle thing but I wanted to get something for Birthday props to my main man, Dave).  How about some cool Opeth stuff to scare the neighbors and get the little one desensitized from an early age?  You got a need for Opeth gear?  We got ya covered with t-shirts and hoodies.  But if you want to keep that love underneath, then how about a dogtag (it's less permanent than a tattoo!)

Why Dave? I don't know.

OK, this is really weird, but for a long time now I've experienced this strange phenomenon -- I see funny or interesting or irrelevant things, and I think, "Dave would love that!" I considered setting up a quasi-fake Amazon Wish List for these items, but though it would be, well, creepy, since it might indicate that I think about Dave way more than I actually do.

I have polled friends, and many have admitted that they know someone like this: You always see stuff that this certain person would love. For my friend Ann, it's a random male friend from college. That is unfortunate for her. I am lucky to have 2 times per year when I have an excuse to actually buy something for Dave.

Here I hope that we can all list the things that Dave will probably love (this word can mean many things), without actually having to buy them. So long as we don't ruin the surprise every time his birthday or Christmas rolls around.

(A theory: I suspect that it's really all about me, since I invariably just *happen* to like these things too. I don't want to appear selfish/gluttonous/covetous, so I just claim that it's Dave, not me, who would love these various items or concepts.)

Dave Would Love This Blog!

Kelly had the great idea to create a blog for stuff that we find online that Dave would love. So here it is. Happy Birthday, honey. Here's a whole blog for stuff you'll find hilarious, poignant, or metal. But mostly hilarious.
